The Way, the Truth, the Life
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the
truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father,
          but by me.
Our topic today is about the pathway to eternal life. There are three
          aspects to the scripture above.
The Way: There are two paths. One path leads to destruction. One path
          leads to safety.
The Truth: Again there are two analogies. One is the truthful character
of God. The other is the character of the devil, or to put it bluntly,
          the father of lies.
The Life: This is just as it says. There is either eternal life or
          eternal damnation.
Lets begin our focus by understanding that Jesus is all we need. He is
the Way to the Father. Jesus is the Way because the Father has put all
things under his feet. There is no other way!
Hebrews 2:8-9 Thou hast put all things in subjection
under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection
under him, he left nothing that is not put under him.
But now we see not yet all things put under him. But
we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the
angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory
and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste
          death for every man.
Colossians 1:17-20 And he is before all things, and
by him all things consist. And he is the head of the
body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn
from the dead; that in all things he might have the
preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him
should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace
through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile
all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they
be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Scripture reveals that Jesus has the preeminence. Jesus paid the price
in his own blood for our sins. He was buried and rose again the third
day. He then ascended to the right hand of the Father and intercedes
continually for us. Whether it is in earth or heaven Jesus is the fulness
of God! He is our saviour! He is the Way!
Jesus is one path. The other path leads to destruction. The path of
destruction is man's worldly wisdom. The wisdom of man is foolishness
to God. Such foolishness profits nothing. Man is but a filthy rag in
          the sight of God.
Proverbs 19:3 The foolishness of man perverteth his
way: and his heart fretteth against the Lord.
Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right
unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and
all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all
do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind,
          have taken us away.
Psalms14:2-3 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the
children of men, to see if there were any that did
understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they
are all together become filthy: there is none that
doeth good, no, not one. But now, O Lord, thou art our
father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we
all are the work of thy hand.
Everything we do is seen by God. We're not fooling Him. We are full of
unrighteousness. There is none that doeth good in His sight. We are
fooling ourselves if we think we can provide a way better than Jesus
          has provided.
Matthew 23:27-28 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres,
which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within
full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men,
but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Nope. We are not fooling God!
      Jesus is the Truth.
Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a
son is given: and the government shall be upon his
shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful,
Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father,
The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government
and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of
David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to
establish it with judgment and with justice from
henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of
          hosts will perform this.
Matthew 1:21-23 And she shall bring forth a son, and
thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his
people from their sins. Now all this was done, that
it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by
the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with
child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall
call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is,
          God with us.
The above scriptures prove Jesus is God in human flesh. The prophecy of
Isaiah was fulfilled when Mary gave birth to the child Jesus. Further
proof that Jesus is in fact God is found in the gospel of John.
John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in
          the beginning with God. All things were made by him;
and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:10-14 He was in the world, and the world was
made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto
his own, and his own received him not. But as many as
received him, to them gave he power to become the sons
of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which
were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh,
nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was
made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his
glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)
          full of grace and truth.
Yes. Full of grace and truth! Jesus is the Truth!
The devil, on the other hand, is a different story. A complete opposite
to the true nature of God. The devil is a deceiver, a liar, a murderer,
an adversary, and an accuser. Lets look at scripture for the identity of
          the father of lies.
John 8:42-44 Jesus said unto them, If God were your
Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and
came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent
me. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because
ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the
devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He
was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in
the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he
speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a
liar, and the father of it.
I Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your
adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh
about, seeking whom he may devour:
Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out,
that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which
deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the
earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Job 1:6-11 Now there was a day when the sons of God
came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan
came also among them. And the Lord said unto Satan,
Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and
said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from
walking up and down in it. And the Lord said unto
Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there
is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright
man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Then
Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God
for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and
about his house, and about all that he hath on every
side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his
substance is increased in the land. But put forth
thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he
will curse thee to thy face.
It is quite clear that the devil is no friend of ours. Fortunately,
there is a cure to the devil's tactics.
The Life! Our saviour Jesus Christ! Eternal life can be aquired by what
he has done for us when he died, was buried, and rose again the third
day almost 2000 years ago. We can have the victory with him.
It is a free gift for all who will believe.
John 10:7-10 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily,
verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers:
but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me
if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go
in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not,
but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am
come that they might have life, and that they might
          have it more abundantly.
Titus 3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish,
disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures,
living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour
toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we
have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the
          washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our
          Saviour;
Revelation 22:16-17 I Jesus have sent mine angel to
testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the
root and the offspring of David, and the bright and
morning star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come.
And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is
athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water
          of life freely.
Ephesians 3:14-21 For this cause I bow my knees unto the
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family
in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you,
according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened
with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ
may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted
and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all
saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and
height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth
knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness
of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding
abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to
the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the
church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world
          without end. Amen.
We have the choice of submitting to God or following the path of the
devil. Following God leads to life everlasting. If you are not sure of
your relationship with Jesus Christ, then it is time to repent and get
right with God. It is a tragedy that many are going the way of the
devil. That path is horrific to say the least.
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide
is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to
destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which
leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Matthew 25:29-30 For unto every one that hath shall be
given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that
hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness:
there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Mark 9:42-48 And whosoever shall offend one of these
little ones that believe in me, it is better for him
that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he
were cast into the sea. And if thy hand offend thee,
cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life
maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the
fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm
dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy
foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to
enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast
into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better
for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye,
than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where
their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Revelatins 20:11-15 And I saw a great white throne, and
him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the
heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
          And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God;
and the books were opened: and another book was opened,
which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out
of those things which were written in the books, according
to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in
it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in
them: and they were judged every man according to their
works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.
This is the second death. And whosoever was not found
written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
We can escape this awful eternal punishment. The eternal damnation is
real. The bible is clear. There is a penalty for unbelief. Please turn
to the only one that can save you from sin, death, and hell. The King
of King and the Lord of Lords our saviour Jesus Christ!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life.
Revelation 3:20-22 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in
to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that
overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even
as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his
throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit
          saith unto the churches.
