Nowhere to Hide
The message this time around will be a warning. We all need to take a
look in the mirror and reflect on how we are living for God. Is God in
our thoughts? Is the way we are living pleasing him?
The following scriptures are examples of what happens to those who have
turned their backs on God. When we forsake our relationship with God
there really is "nowhere to hide".
Numbers 11:31-34 And there went forth a wind from the
Lord, and brought quails from the sea, and let them
fall by the camp, as it were a day's journey on this
side, and as it were a day's journey on the other
side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits
high upon the face of the earth. And the people stood
up all that day, and all that night, and all the next
day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered
least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all
abroad for themselves round about the camp. And while
the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was
chewed, the wrath of the Lord was kindled against
the people, and the Lord smote the people with a
very great plague. And he called the name of that
place Kibroth–hattaavah: because there they buried
          the people that lusted.
The above passage is the result of the children of Israel complaining
in the wilderness journey. God was providing food for them daily, but
they were not satisfied. They murmured against the Lord and were not
thankful. They provoked the Lord to anger.
Numbers 16:31-35 And it came to pass, as he had made
an end of speaking all these words, that the ground
clave asunder that was under them: And the earth
opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their
houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah,
and all their goods. They, and all that appertained
to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth
closed upon them: and they perished from among the
congregation. And all Israel that were round about
them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest
the earth swallow us up also. And there came out a
fire from the Lord, and consumed the two hundred
and fifty men that offered incense.
The above passage shows the result against the men of Korah. Korah with
two hundred and fifty men of leadership came against Moses and Aaron.
They were not happy with God's choice of leaders (Moses and Aaron). The
men rebelled against God and his ideal standard of leadership. It is
extraordinary the lack of obedience these men showed towards God.
Instead, they thought they should be running the show. Notice that God
doesn't tolerate those that come against whom He chooses.
Acts 5:1-5 But a certain man named Ananias, with
Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, And kept back
part of the price, his wife also being privy to it,
and brought a certain part, and laid it at the
apostles' feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath
Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost,
and to keep back part of the price of the land?
Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after
it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why
hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou
hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias
hearing these words fell down, and gave up the
ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard
          these things.
Sapphira suffered the same fate. You cannot hide from God. He sees it
all. In the above examples of scripture we have seen that death is the
result of disobedience. Whether it is lying, deception, murmuring,
          complaining, or willfully coming against others you don't agree with;
God has made it clear this will not be tolerated. Are we any better in
our daily walk? We need to be critical of ourselves and analyze if our
heart truly belongs to the Lord.
Revelation 6:12-16 And I beheld when he had opened
          the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake;
and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the
moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell
unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her
untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled
together; and every mountain and island were moved out
of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the
great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains,
and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free
man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of
the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks,
Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that
sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
There will be nowhere to hide. Scripture was written for our learning
and admonition. The above example is the final phase of rebellion on
planet earth. Noone is getting away with anything. God will bring all
the hidden things to light. Just as in times past, men and women will
be judged for their wrong doings.
The final judgment will ultimately seal our fate for eternity.
Revelation 20:11-15 And I saw a great white throne,
and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth
and the heaven fled away; and there was found no
place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great,
stand before God; and the books were opened: and
another book was opened, which is the book of life:
and the dead were judged out of those things which
were written in the books, according to their works.
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and
death and hell delivered up the dead which were in
them: and they were judged every man according to
their works. And death and hell were cast into the
lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever
was not found written in the book of life was cast
          into the lake of fire.
You cannot hide from God. Wouldn't it be better to just fall on your
face before him and confess him as Lord and Saviour?
II Samuel 22:1-4 And David spake unto the Lord the
words of this song in the day that the Lord had
delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies,
and out of the hand of Saul: And he said, The Lord
is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; The
God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield,
and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my
refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. I
will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised:
so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
There is "nowhere to hide" UNLESS you have the Lord and saviour Jesus
Christ! To Him be all the Glory!
