Come Unto Me
Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and
are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my
yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and
lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your
souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
The comforting words of Jesus is our topic today. Life is full of
struggles and challenges. Whatever it is we are facing, God is
faithful and true to strengthen us if we simply put our confidence
          and trust in Him.
How do we come unto Jesus? Scripture teaches us how.
Luke 9:23-24 And he said to them all, If any man will
come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his
cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save
his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his
life for my sake, the same shall save it.
Death to our plans. Our lives are now dedicated to the God that made
us. We live for Him and obey His will and not our own. We follow the
classic example of Jesus by practicing daily what Jesus preached.
Jesus came to fulfill the will of His Father. We are to submit to the
          will of the Son.
John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I
hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I
seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father
          which hath sent me.
John 20:21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be
unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I
          you.
The Father sent the Son for a purpose. Jesus laid down His life for
lost sinners. He shed His blood as a perfect sacrifice to satisfy
God's wrath against all that have sinned. Jesus died on a cross, was
buried, and rose again the third day. He ascended to the Father and
sits at the right hand of the throne of God.
Jesus did the Father's will. He commands us to do His will. What is
His will? What does Jesus send us to do?
Matthew 28:17-20 And when they saw him, they worshipped
him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto
them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and
in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the
Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe
all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I
am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
         Amen.
It is pretty clear that Jesus tells us to spread the gospel. Teach all
nations the Good News. Notice also that Jesus commands us to study his
words. This my friend is the Word of God. Study the bible daily!
Psalms 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a
         light unto my path.
Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that
I might not sin against thee.
Proverbs 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the
law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way
         of life:
Proverbs 30:5-6 Every word of God is pure: he is a
shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou
not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be
         found a liar.
Following Jesus requires us to have knowledge of what was said. This
is found throughout the Word of God. Teaching others about who God is
should be our number one priority. This is also accomplished by being
doers of the Word and not just hearers.
James 1:22-24 But be ye doers of the word, and not
hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be
a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a
man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he
beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway
forgetteth what manner of man he was.
Man's wisdom goes against the Word of God. When we think we can handle
things on our own, we fall flat on our faces. We must trust in the
the Power of God that is our strength. This is where we put our life
in the hands of Jesus and let him pull the weight. His yoke is easy
        and His burden is light.
When life becomes so difficult we cannot take another step, just hand
it over to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! He will sustain us and
deliver us if we would just allow Him to direct our paths. Jesus can
and will pull all of the weights of life. He will calm our storms and
        save us!
Matthew 8:24-26 And, behold, there arose a great tempest
in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the
waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him,
and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he
saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little
        faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea;
and there was a great calm.
Matthew 5:15-21 And when it was evening, his disciples
came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the
time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may
go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. But
Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them
to eat. And they say unto him, We have here but five
loaves, and two fishes. He said, Bring them hither to
me. And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the
grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and
looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave
the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the
multitude. And they did all eat, and were filled: and
they took up of the fragments that remained twelve
baskets full. And they that had eaten were about five
thousand men, beside women and children.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He is our saviour. He is the
pathway to eternal life. When we believe on Him, our eternal destiny is
settled. The question is do you believe in Him?
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth,
and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 10:9-10 I am the door: by me if any man enter in,
he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find
pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to
kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have
life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe
in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many
mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go
to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a
place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto
myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Eternal life is the ultimate reward for those who believe in Jesus
Christ. We can have rest for our souls because of what He did for us when
he hung on a tree. He became the curse for us! Oh what a saviour!
Galatians 3:13-14 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse
of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written,
Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the
blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through
Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the
       Spirit through faith.
I trust that you have settled your eternal destiny. If not, why not give
your life to Jesus and follow him. Hit your knees and pray and ask him to
come into your heart and mind and soul. Let him know you are a sinner and
need him as the only saving tool that can deliver your soul from Hell.
Revelation 3:20-22 Behold, I stand at the door, and
knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I
will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with
me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in
my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with
my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him
hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Be a doer. Hear what the spirit says. Jesus is knocking.
Open the door and believe. Overcome the world and let
Jesus take over your life. His yoke is easy and his burden
is light. May God open your eyes!
